In the current conversations about the First and Second Amendments, some of the “leaders” here seem to have forgotten about the actual Constitution:
“We the people of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
Establish justice? The GOP literally stole a Supreme Court seat to put a partisan judge in place.
Domestic tranquility? Not without sane gun control, education and equality — things that appear to be anathema to today’s GOP.
Common defense? Tripling the world’s military spending isn’t “common.” Bases all over the world don’t seem like “defense,” they seem more like “offense” — and are certainly deemed offensive by many locals to the point of lashing out (growing terrorists 101).
General welfare? Welfare: the health, happiness and fortunes of a person or group. This one seems to be given a total pass by the GOP.
Secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves? Where does it say to “our straight white selves”?
Posterity? Disbanding the EPA? Opening up the Arctic for oil/gas? Attempting to push Americans into fighting Americans?
I accuse every single member of the current wrecking crew of violating their very oaths to uphold and defend our Constitution. This Congress and administration a exactly what our nation’s enemies dream about.
