As news broke of a mass shooting at a south Texas church on Sunday, the nation’s leaders turned to social media to show their support and express their thoughts on gun violence in America. While Texas Gov. Greg Abbott called the incident an “evil act,” President Donald Trump tweeted “May God be w/ the people of Sutherland Springs, Texas. The FBI & law enforcement are on the scene. I am monitoring the situation from Japan.”
Here’s how Utah leaders responded on Twitter.
Stunned and heartbroken to hear the news out of Texas. @GovAbbott, the prayers and hearts of Utahns are with Texans today.

Whether a truck in New York or a firearm in Texas, rampage violence must be addressed. We call on Congress to adequately fund researchers.
